The Gaming Brief:
- Board Channels reports RTX 5080 16GB wholesale prices in China rose about 2,000 yuan (roughly $300) to 14,500 to 15,000 yuan
- ASUS added 1,000 yuan (~$150) to all RTX 5080 16GB models; white Gigabyte added 1,200 yuan (~$180)
- RTX 5070 Ti wholesale prices rose roughly $90 to $100, and both brands added 200 yuan (~$30) to it
- These are China wholesale and distributor figures, which may not translate one-to-one to US or European retail
The RTX 5080 16GB is getting more expensive at the distribution level in China, and the reason may be what’s coming next.
According to VideoCardz citing Board Channels reports its wholesale price rose about 2,000 yuan, roughly $300, while ASUS and Gigabyte raised their own pricing.
Experts tie the jump partly to the card’s reported discontinuation in favor of a 24GB version. The RTX 5070 Ti, which uses the same 16GB GDDR7 configuration, is rising too.
ASUS and Gigabyte Add 1,000 and 1,200 Yuan to RTX 5080 Cards
ASUS added 1,000 yuan (~$150) to all RTX 5080 16GB models and 200 yuan (~$30) to the RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5070, and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, as TechPowerUp details.
It also raised RTX competitor Radeon prices by $15 to $50. Gigabyte added 1,200 yuan (~$180) to its RTX 5080 cards and 200 yuan to the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070.
Reports citing Board Channels say both brands raised factory pricing on October 20. Cheaper RTX 5060-class cards from both brands saw bumps of 200 yuan or less.
RTX 5070 Ti Shares the 16GB GDDR7 Layout and the Pressure
Figures quoted from VideoCardz put the RTX 5080 16GB’s wholesale range at 12,700 to 13,500 yuan ($1,900 to $2,020) before the jump and 14,500 to 15,000 yuan ($2170 to $2240) now.
The RTX 5070 Ti moved from about 9,000 to 9,150 yuan (1,440 to $1,470).
Reports link the 5070 Ti’s rise to the 5080 16GB’s reported discontinuation, with memory makers warning commodity DRAM, GDDR7 included, will stay tight through at least 2028.
RTX 5080 24GB Wholesale Could Reach 19,999 Yuan, and China Prices Aren’t US Prices
Rumors are also circulating that the RTX 5080 24GB could potentially reach a wholesale price of 19,999 yuan, just under $3,000, and could launch in Q1 2027. That is a rumor, not a confirmed price.
The caveat matters for buyers outside China.
The reported increases are distributor-channel prices, not retail, so US and European prices may not move in lockstep.
TechPowerUp argues price changes like these often hit China first, but that is an outlook, not a confirmed trend.
