The Gaming Brief:
- The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group confirm Pokémon UNITE will shut down on March 23, 2027
- In-game currency sales and UNITE Club renewals ended immediately following the official sunset announcement
- An offline “Library” mode will launch before server termination to preserve player collections and unlocked progress
- Final farewell in-game events and the Aeos Crown 2027 tournament will conclude the MOBA’s six-year run
Fans of the long-running Pokémon MOBA now have a definitive timeline for the end of service, alongside an unexpected preservation compromise.
The Pokémon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group announced that Pokémon UNITE will officially shut down on March 23, 2027, closing out nearly six years of service on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
While server terminations usually leave live-service rosters inaccessible, developers confirmed an upcoming feature designed to archive player progress offline.
Microtransactions Cease Immediately as Shutdown Schedule Begins
According to Polygon, all purchases of paid in-game currency, known as Aeos Gems, and new UNITE Club memberships stopped the moment the news dropped.
Active club memberships will keep delivering their usual perks until current billing cycles run out, but auto-renewals are switched off for good.
The developers confirmed that players can keep spending their leftover balances and playing with unlocked licenses across regular game modes until the servers go dark in 2027.
A series of final farewell events starting in November will bring back legacy Holowear and historical battle content for the game’s remaining stretch, kicking off a busy winter for players right alongside the arrival of GTA 6.
Offline Library Feature Preserves Accounts After Server Termination
The headline takeaway for dedicated players, as GamesRadar reports, is a newly detailed offline “Library” feature.
This added functionality makes sure that once the servers go offline, players will not lose their entire history on Aeos Island.
The offline archive will allow users to log in locally to inspect unlocked Pokémon licenses, view acquired Holowear cosmetics, and review personal match statistics built up over the game’s run.
While active multiplayer matchmaking is ending, the tool gives players a permanent offline home for everything they unlocked.
While active multiplayer matchmaking is ending, the feature provides offline preservation that nostalgic fans often look for when revisiting classic handheld adventures like Pokémon Emerald.
Final Esports Tournament Marks the End of a Six-Year Mobile Era
In the same announcement, the developers outlined their plans to complete the current competitive roadmap instead of pulling the plug on esports early.
Per Polygon, the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 event in Tokyo will serve as the game’s official competitive sendoff before the March cutoff.
The tournament gives pro teams a proper stage to close out six years of competitive play that started with the game’s original July 2021 launch.
For casual and competitive players alike, the long wind-down window gives everyone roughly five months to use up remaining currencies and save their profiles before the live servers close down.
